More Fun in a Forex Box

We have received several forex boxes recently.

One was turned into a sword for Ben to use as part of a costume at school and the rest of that box became a play chair for Jerard.

Now he can sit on the floor with James and I and play with the toys.

Church

There are many styles of church around here (non-aircon, aircon, nice buildings, not so nice buildings...)
But wherever Christians are gathered together is a joy. Yes, the worship style may be different, they may not sing hymns, but the joy of our Asian believers is contagious.

Here are pictures from last Sunday's worship at a church we are currently attending.

DBC has a strong community development outreach.
This building is being built to house a training center for San
Rafael area, a poor community near the church. The plan is to
train the men and women of that community with job skills
such as construction, computer programming, etc., so they
can better provide for their families.

A special guest speaker, Andy, who attends the church
presented last week's message.

A potluck dinner was held after the service in one of the
unfinished rooms of the new building being built.

The 'MC' and Pastor Alan.

Alma is in charge of the Compassion outreach the church
has. There are 120 children from San Rafael area being
sponsored through Compassion International. It is so neat
to see the other side of Compassion working. We really
appreciate DBC's outreach ministries to the San Rafael area.

Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them."

A Prayer for Seeking The Eternal

Grant, O Lord my God, that I may never fall away in success or in failure; that I may not be prideful in prosperity nor dejected in adversity. Let me rejoice only in what unites us and sorrow
only in what separates us. May I strive to please no one or fear to displease anyone except Yourself. May I seek always the things that are eternal and never those that are only temporal....
St. Thomas Aquinas

Jerard

Many have been asking how Jerard is doing.

Jerard enjoys music, tickles, being talked to. He is a blessing.
His favourite foods are pancakes, pasta, graham crackers and sweets (cookies, ice cream, etc.)

Jerard

He is slowly making some progress. He receives occupational therapy twice a week at Resources for the Blind here in Davao.

Jerard really enjoys his OT at Resources for the Blind

He recently had a one year check up with the neurologist. The Dr. was very pleased with the progress Jerard has made. But he does want us to take him to a rehabilitation orthopedic doctor towards the end of September to see if he needs braces for his legs.

He likes to put everything in his mouth. When we are holding him we have to be careful he doesn't bite. His bites are painful.

Keep him in your prayers. He doesn't sit up on his own or crawl yet. Overall he is staying healthy, though he does have asthma he receives daily medications for.

Drainage

This is an example of how most drainage ditches are constructed here in the city. They are open drainage channels along the road sides.

Walker beware! Don't fall in...and don't park your car to close, either!
